It’s that time of year again where all your winter clothes that have been tucked away for so long come back out to play. The heavyweight winter coats and jackets are a godsend on those cold, brisk wintry mornings. The blanket scarves protect your little nose from freezing. The thick wintry socks protect your toes and the thick heavyweight jumpers are back to drape over you to keep you warm. As much as I hate Autumn and Winter, I have to say there is nothing more I love than layering up. The possibilities are endless. Unless you want to look like the Michelin man from the car tyre advert then that’s up to you, but I do layer up as much as possible. So let’s get layering up and shield ourselves from the harsh winter. I know I am for certain!
So at the moment ASOS is running a voting poll on what coats people like most for Winter. It’s between a classic leather jacket, this season’s must have overcoat and the timeless Parka. Which coat will get your vote? head over to ASOS to check the vote out! (All pictures from ASOS)
The Leather Jacket
Since getting my leather jacket, I can see why people have been swayed with a leather jacket. A leather jacket can keep you warm but have the edge to other coats. It has the fashion value but also the hard rock element that sometimes is hard to pull off. For a long time, I didn’t think I could pull a leather jacket off because I didn’t have that element of hard rock to my styling. But when I saw the sale in Topman and found one for £22 I thought I might as well give it a go. I proved to myself that just because I have a baby face doesn’t mean I can’t pull off a leather jacket. Styled right it can look fierce on anyone.
I love an oversized coat, they look effective and will always keep you warm. It’s a big trend this season to have an oversized coat to add another layer to the layering palette. I love overcoats I have my eyes on two, but I’m saving them for when I receive my £250 spending spree that I won with the modeling for my local town centre. I love how effortlessly smart an overcoat looks too. Add it to any outfit and it instantly makes the outfit look smarter and cleaner. With the defined edges and clean-cut lapels, it’s definitely a winner in my heart.
The parka coat for me has never really been something that I’ve ever had. I’ve always felt its way too casual for my style. I like my coats to have structure and complement my outfit. However with the fur around the hood I find this the most thing that attracts me to the coat. I’ve always wished that they would implement that onto an overcoat to make it stand out more. As much as some people love them I’m not a lover of the Parka.
