This Christmas I wanted to do something fun. So I’m participating in the 12 Days of Blogmas. In the 2 and half years, I’ve had my blog, I’ve not done anything like this. I’m going to start it on the 14th of December leading us right up to Christmas Day. So it gives me a couple of days beforehand to get a little ahead of myself. Working a full-time job I need as much time to prepare for such a thing. I’ve made a plan on what I’m doing on each day and I can’t wait to get stuck in and do this. I’ve always seen other bloggers do it and make it look so easy. I’m really excited to do something like this as it’s something I don’t normally do. I’m excited for you guys to check in with my blog every day! I might see what kind of things you’d like to see and make some changes to the list I’ve made. I’d love my dear follower’s suggestions. If you’d like to suggest something comment below or leave me a message on Instagram: @lukeheywoodstyle
So with just 80 days till Ellen and I are off to Fuerteventura and so the clothes buying frenzy has begun. Walking around the shops this evening after a long day at work I could of easily of purchased at least 20 items there and then. But for me, it’s all about planning outfits before I got than just buying for the sake of buying. I’m going for 7 days and there will be at least 7-14 outfits planned in my head. Day outfits and Evening outfits. The hotel we are going too has a strict dress code that the men also have to wear trousers to dinner. So I have to take this into consideration. Out of dinner, the men can wear whatever they want and that’s what I plan to do. I’ve recently purchased some swimming shorts and a gorgeous two piece outfit from ASOS. Which are going to be two of the many outfits I shall be sporting on my holiday. I have my eyes on so many beautiful pieces from ASOS and surprisingly Primark also! The closer it gets the more excited I’m getting. I need to hit the gym more and make sure I’m holiday ready and not like last time where it was a major rush to try and get a holiday body for my other holiday!
part of last year and the few months this year I wanted to get away and get away from such problems and just completely forget the world. With my best friend in tow, we headed to Tenerife.
Early morning of the 16th of March, Ellen and I awoke at 3:15 to a cold morning full of excitement knowing we are escaping the cold and life problems of the U.K. We made the journey over to Birmingham Airport to await our flight at 6:40 to Tenerife. Checking in online beforehand was simple and let us roam free around the airport why we waited, letting us indulge in a Weatherspoon’s breakfast. In previous flights I have been very nervous about the whole flying experience but this time I was calm and actually enjoyed the 4-hour flight. Ellen and I played hangman for most of the journey to pass the time. Finally, we arrive in Tenerife to a very cloudy south side of the island. Ellen and I both looked at each other thinking “Oh god, please tell me the weather will get better”. We then had to find our transfer that was taking us to our hotel which didn’t take much time. Our transfer took us 2 hours to get to our hotel as we were at the south airport and our hotel was in the north. Driving through Tenerife was really beautiful, seeing sights that we may have missed if we hadn’t of gone on the transfer. Getting closer to our hotel and the blue skies appeared.
We drove around a mountain and there in front of us was where we were staying, Puerto De La Cruz with the beautiful sun beaming down on it. Arriving at our hotel the receptionist told us of a deal on about the hotel rooms, where we can upgrade for an extra 40 Euro (20 each) to get a better room. The receptionist took us to the room where we booked and instantly seeing the room we upgraded as the room was just terrible. However, the room we upgraded to was not. Very sophisticated with a balcony which is perfect for the evenings to sit outside with a drink!
After settling into our hotel room, we changed out of our airport clothes and went to explore what Puerto De La Cruz has to offer. Finding the beach and an awesome spot for photo taking we rounded up our trip with a lovely meal at a stunning restaurant as we hadn’t eaten since the Airport breakfast and we headed back to our hotel.
7 o’clock the alarm rang for the second day where Ellen and myself got ready and made our way to breakfast. The first time we had come down to breakfast. There was such a selection of things to have. I didn’t really want anything too heavy as we were going to a water park. So I settled with just toast and my very needed coffee. Today was the day we were heading to Siam water park. 2-hour bus journey later we arrive at Siam park with excitement. The sun was shining and we was ready. The water rides were amazing, apart from nearly dying on one of
them, they were so amazing. After a few water rides we were seriously adrenalined out, so it was time to hit the Siam beach, which was a fake beach with its very own wave machine. We got ourselves an alcoholic beverage and lay on the sun loungers and basked in the sunshine. We kept heading to the water and then back to our sun loungers to bask in the beautiful sunshine. 5pm came and it was time to return on our 2-hour bus journey back to the hotel where we went out for a meal.
Day 3 we had a lie in after the excitement of the water park. We hit breakfast at around 8.30am and again I wasn’t really feeling much of a breakfast again, as long as I had my coffee I was okay. Today we decided to go and explore Puerto De La Cruz and see what it has to offer. The streets were filled with people being a Saturday. The streets were cobbled took us on a windy path of the North island, showcasing the
little shops and restaurants it has to offer. The streets were filled with street performers and little side stalls. After a long walk around the north side of the island, we decided to head back to where we know and go for some lunch. We didn’t feel like anything too filling so we had a panini from this cute little shop. It was huge and really filling. After lunch we decided to hit the sea salt pools. The beaches aren’t that great in the north so there is man-made pools that have sea salt in them that are pretty much the same as the beach. You had to pay 5 Euro to get in but it’s totally worth and the aesthetic in there was just perfect for some amazing selfies.
The water was freezing but once you had been in there for a while you were fine. Once we had a little dip in the pools it was time to lie in the sun and soak up some rays. It was then time to return to the hotel and get dressed up for my birthday meal. We found a gorgeous little restaurant on our walk around the island. Right next to the sea with a stunning view, which we thought was just perfect for a lovely meal. We left the hotel around 7sih for the meal and as we sat down it just started to rain. This was not good as we were right next to the window which was open to the elements. We ordered our food and some alcoholic beverages. Well, a bottle of wine for me and by the time we had started drinking those we totally forgot about the rain. I ordered the chicken which came with a side of gorgeous chips. 4 glasses of wine later I decided it was time to return back from the meal. The rain had finally stopped so at least we didn’t have to walk back in the rain. The walk back was so funny as we were both a little tipsy from the alcohol but we got there in the end!
Sunday March the 19th. My birthday. I had finally reached 25 and I woke up and walked out onto the balcony and realised that I’m very lucky to be here and that whatever happened in my life has made me stronger and that I’m still here. Taking in the view, Ellen and I decided to go down for breakfast and I was having a super breakfast as it was my birthday. After breakfast we decided to go to Loro Park. A gorgeous zoo that holds an array of animals. To get there it was a transfer, but this was no ordinary transfer. A bright yellow train took us there. Which was lovely because we saw more sights that we wouldn’t get to see on foot. Arriving at Loro park we already purchased our tickets and could just go straight through. We saw so many different animals and went some shows to see bigger animals perform. After a busy couple of hours from walking around and watching animals preform we decided to hit the yellow train and headed back. When then went to the nearest supermarket to buy some wine and a cake for my birthday celebration later on in the evening. Could we find a birthday cake anywhere? nearly 3 shops we had to go and finally, we found a cake. We then headed back to the hotel and just laze around on our balcony. Soaking up any sun we had left. While doing so Ellen heard the door go in our hotel room and when we went inside we found they had given me a bottle of wine for my birthday with a card wishing me a happy birthday which was so kind of them. As the sunset over Puerto De La Cruz, we sat on our balcony drinking wine and having a laugh. It was just so nice to not have to worry about anything. I blew my candles out on my cake and cut Ellen and myself a slice. As it was getting late we decided to retire from drinking and eating cake as we were up early to catch our transfer to return home.
6:45am came and we awoke with dread and unhappiness knowing we were returning back to the cold weather of the UK. we rushed down stairs for a quick coffee and then waited for our 2 hour transfer to the Airport. Our flight was at 12:40 to return back to the UK. Arriving home at around 5:05pm to the cold and rainy weather of the UK.
I had an amazing time and for those 5 days, I realised just how much fun I can have and just how amazing it is to get away and experience another country. Troubles and problems are now gone. I’ve realised there is no point holding on to feelings and problems when nothing will ever come of them. I’ve let go and feel so much better for it. From now on I will just have so many laughs and creating memories with people that really mean something to me. I wouldn’t have been able to do this holiday without my amazing best friend Ellen. She seriously made this holiday so special and so amazing. She’s an amazing girl and we had so much fun and so many laughs.
I’ve done a video of our holiday which is below. Here’s to the next adventure ♥
So now with the countdown trickling down, it’s only 5 days till Ellen and I will be on a plane just like my little stop animation photography to Tenerife. I actually can’t wait to get there. It’s about time I had something to look forward too and boy am I going to enjoy myself while I’m there! In obvious “Quirkycurlsfashion” I shall be posting a few videos before hand, showcasing my outfits that I plan to wear. As you can see from the photo below I have purchased some cute nautical things that I’m excited to showcase. I then shall do a “pack with me” video. As I’ve said in my previous post I shall be taking my GoPro camera with me and videoing most of the holiday, as this is no ordinary holiday. Ellen and myself have had a rough few months and this is a big fat middle finger to everything that’s happened and it’s also to celebrate my 25 years living on this planet. A few of my followers have also said they shall want me to do a live video while I’m there so I shall do that one of the days I’m there. I hardly want to use my phone while I’m there so this will just be a short time. I plan to do this on Instagram so if you don’t follow then get over to my instagram right now and follow me…. @quirkycurlsfashion is the handle. I just want to be there right now. 5 days!
The boyfriend and I are always up for a little getaway and the one that we’ve just come back from what has been a perfect little weekend away. I’ve always wanted to do a little bit of glamping, I’m not one to have to pitch a tent and then sleep in a sleeping bag. A warm bed is very much what I love. I did a little research online and found some lovely places to stay but because it was last minute not many of them had the available dates that we wanted to do. A Friday night to Sunday were the dates we planned to go and with only a week to go I thought I had left it too late, that was till I found Lowe’s Farm. A cute and gorgeous little farm in the middle of the peak district in Derbyshire. Now the style of glamping was a little Shepard’s hut in a middle of a field, it just instantly sounded so appealing and I instantly email them and asked if it was available. They replied within an hour or so saying it was available, I emailed back instantly saying I would like to book for 2 nights and before I knew it was booked.
I finished work on the Friday afternoon at 3pm, got changed and then raced over the boyfriend’s house, where he was waiting all packed ready to go. The drive was such a beautiful drive, along the countryside roads and the backdrop of the rolling hills of the Peak District. As we arrived we were greeted by automatic gates that lead us into the parking area for the cars. As we approached the house I spotted the Shepard’s hut that we will be staying in. The owners were very welcoming and very down to earth. They showed us where everything was and then told us our key was already in the door of the hut so go on up whenever you’re ready. After settling in the hut and just been so content with where we were, Nick and Bern came to the door to hand us some little house warming gifts. Some home-made brownies, eggs for breakfast, drinking water and then a big bottle of water for our kettle. After this, they just left us to it and we saw them around the farm doing their daily business, but we thought how lovely it was that they made us feel so welcome.
The hut was a perfect combination of homely and chic. With a big double bed, with a mass of duvets and blankets. Perfect little accessories around the hut such as little loves heart hooks, hanging wooden hearts and floral bedding and curtains. It was my idea of heaven, quirky and just super cute. The hut did have facilities such as; A gas stove and grill, a kettle, a fireplace, solar panelled lights and an eco-friendly toilet. Showering facilities and a normal toilet was down in the barn just a short walk away from the hut which was nice to go to every now and again. The hut shielded you from the rain and wind pretty well. The first night the rain and wind just didn’t let up and it was horrendous on the roads when we went for a drive to Leek for the day. In a way, it was comforting to hear the rain hitting the hut while you was tucked up in bed.
We had an amazing time and it was just a beautiful place to visit. We most definitely will be going to go again!
So Friday I broke up for my 2 week holiday from work. I started it off visiting my Boyfriend and having a little catch up with him. We went for a lovely walk yesterday in the morning in the spring sunshine. After this we went to Frankie and Benny’s had a lovely meal and then went to the cinema to see Zootropolis. It was such a cute and funny film and we really enjoyed it.
On this lazy Sunday I’ve been planning on what I’m going to do with the rest of my time off. All of next week will be dedicated to my blog and YouTube. Everyday next week I plan to write a blog post and do a YouTube video a day. However I shall not being uploading these YouTube videos daily as I can schedule them to come on either every 3 days or so. However I can store these up and get a good schedule up and running on my blog. I shall be doing some cool things and trying to think a little more out of the box. On the Friday-Sunday I shall be again visiting my Boyfriend as he goes on Holiday on the Monday for a few days.
The 2 week of my holiday I have some awesome plans coming up. For definite my friend Tom and I are going to London for a few days and plan to do some really awesome stuff. Don’t worry I shall most definitely be doing some vlogs!
So I really can’t wait to have some me time and really get stuck in with everything fashion and fun!
Stay tuned…good things are coming!!
So as you all know I’ve been to Disneyland Paris this week and my gosh was it amazing. Not only did I venture to Disneyland but my friends and I took a train into Paris and had a long adventure around Paris. 4 days of pure magic and excitement has exhausted me but it was so worth it.
Monday 23rd of March, I woke up at 3.30 filled with excitement. We arrived at the airport 2 and half hours beforehand and so we decided we could treat ourselves to have a Frankie and Benny’s breakfast. After checking in and sorting all our cases out we were ready to board our plane. I was a tad nervous while boarding the plane as I hadn’t been on one for 16 years and when you’re a kid you just don’t care but being 23 your mind goes on overdrive with what can go wrong. The flight was only short but I really worked myself up and got myself into a bit of a state. However one we’ve had gone through border control etc, it was time to get aboard the Disney shuttle bus that would take us straight to our Disney hotel. I could feel the excitement building up in me like nothing else before. The sun was out and made the sky a crisp blue which was something we didn’t see in England before we left. A 25 minute trip later on the bus and I could see in the distance Disney Studios. I think I nearly squealed with excitement. Our hotel was the Santa Fe, a cars themed hotel which was beyond amazing! After dropping our suitcases and things in our hotel room, we hopped on the shuttle bus that take us to the park and we let the magic begin. The outfit I was rocking was topped off with my first purchase in Disneyland and that was my Mickey Mouse ears. A floral bomber from Zara that was one my wish list before my birthday, with my burgundy roll neck and skinny jeans. I did wear my cape in the morning on the way to the airport due to it being so cold. Most of the day was spent taking in the sights of around the park and being huge kids in the Disney Store. We eat in few places like Hakuna Matata restaurant which was basically our first meal being in Disneyland. Then on the evening we ate in Billy Bob’s restaurant. Being awake for so long killed us, as well as the stress of the airport we we’re ready for bed that night!
The first part of day 2 consisted of heading the to the Walt Disney Studios to have a look at all the movie aspects of Disney. It was really interesting and just so cool. Getting to see all the movies like Toy Story, Monsters inc, Ratatouille and Finding Nemo in one place. My outfit for day 2 consisted of my Vintage Mickey mouse jumper with my dungarees and of course topped off with my Mickey Mouse ears. The only full picture of my outfit is this one with Mike from Monsters inc (sorry about the blur) We then went back into the main park and went on a few rides like Pirates of the Caribbean and Alice’s Curious Labyrinth. We didn’t eat too much on that day because we had a reservation within the Cafe’ Mickey, so we went to an all you can eat buffet within the Buzz Lightyear Restaurant the food was lovely. After returning back to the hotel to freshen up and have a change of outfit we returned back to the Disney Village for our reservation to Cafe’ Mickey. A Cafe’ where you sit and have a meal and all the Disney characters come around your table and you can have your photograph with them. This was the one thing I was waiting for the whole holiday. I just couldn’t wait. Mickey Mouse, Pluto and Goofy were in the night we was in the Cafe’. I got a photograph with them all. The food was also sogood!
Day 3 consisted of Paris. We got on a train all on our own because the people at the information desk didn’t help us at all, we spoke to them in English and they spoke to us back in French. Super helpful. However we made it to Paris and with a help of a trusty map we walked all around Paris to all the locations we wanted to go see. We saw the ppadlock bridge, The Notre Dame, The Louvre, The Arc De Triumph and most of all The Eiffel Tower. We went up the Eiffel tower which I can only make half way because I’m terrified of heights and also lifts. But I got to the second platform which I’m proud of myself to even get that far. photo to the left is the view from the second platform My outfit for Paris was my neoprene Zara coat, my peg leg trousers from ASOS, striped topman jumper, my fedora hat and my leather satchel back pack. It had a very Parisian vibe and I loved it so much. However the weather was windy and a tad cold so I did suffer a little but it was so worth it. After spending the day in Paris we took the train back to Disneyland to watch the Disney Dreams fireworks which was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen.
The final day of our stay, most of the day was spent packing and getting ready to go home. We went to the park for the last time and brought lots of souvenirs and gifts for people. I got a lot of souvenirs for myself which I love! My last outfit of the holiday consisted of my brand new Mickey Mouse hoodie I purchased while staying in the park, with my skinny jeans, my trench coat and of course my mickey mouse ears. The last day was so sad, it just went so quickly. We were trying to take as many photos as possible before we left to make sure we had lots of memories from the holiday. This holiday was my first holiday in 16 years and I spent it with my favourite people in the world. It was the best birthday I could ever of wished for and it just was amazing. We are already in talks about going to Disney world next year! I hope so because that’ll be sun, sun, sun and Disney for 2 whole weeks!! How amazing would that be?? The picture below just shows all of the souvenirs I brought for myself. I did get gifts for other people who also included mugs, socks, tea towels and magnets. Best holiday of my life so far. I just can’t wait to go to Florida if it goes ahead!
