This Christmas I wanted to do something fun. So I’m participating in the 12 Days of Blogmas. In the 2 and half years, I’ve had my blog, I’ve not done anything like this. I’m going to start it on the 14th of December leading us right up to Christmas Day. So it gives me a couple of days beforehand to get a little ahead of myself. Working a full-time job I need as much time to prepare for such a thing. I’ve made a plan on what I’m doing on each day and I can’t wait to get stuck in and do this. I’ve always seen other bloggers do it and make it look so easy. I’m really excited to do something like this as it’s something I don’t normally do. I’m excited for you guys to check in with my blog every day! I might see what kind of things you’d like to see and make some changes to the list I’ve made. I’d love my dear follower’s suggestions. If you’d like to suggest something comment below or leave me a message on Instagram: @lukeheywoodstyle
On the 23rd of November, myself and my good friend Tom went on an adventure to Liverpool. Liverpool is full of culture with its stunning buildings full of architecture, countless amounts of museums and not to mention the amazing shopping quarter. Every corner you turn in Liverpool oozes history.
We decided to set off early to make sure we had a lot of time to explore Liverpool in the daytime. We arrived at around 11:30, left our luggage in my car and went off to explore. We couldn’t check into our hotel until 3, so we went and grabbed some food to fuel ourselves for the day ahead. After we had eaten an awful amount of pizza at Pizza Hut, we decided to walk off our pizza tummies and have a look at the shopping facilities. Being so close to black Friday there was a lot of deals and offers to definitely keep us going. However, being good I decided not to buy anything as I had just spent £68 on a new suit for my upcoming Christmas Parties I shall be going too (Post coming soon) The night sky slowly set in over Liverpool quiet quickly. The temperature began to drop so we headed back to the car to grab our luggage and head to the hotel. We walked into the beautiful Britannia Adelphi Hotel and was greeted by a warm and old-fashioned lobby. I felt I had walked into a time warp. Two marble columns framing stairs that lead into a huge room that was filled with old sofas, chairs and tables, beautifully lit with 3 huge chandeliers. Over the back stood a towering Christmas tree beautifully decorated, I felt like I was in some sort of a time warp that had transported me right back in time to when the hotel had first opened. Once we had booked in we went to find our room.
So I wanted to do a different kind of post that showcased my full-time job. I wanted to give you guys a little insight into my work life and what I get up to during the Festive period. This is all about the window schemes and in-store schemes that we implement throughout the Christmas season.
A couple of weeks before anything goes in for Christmas we are shown the window scheme through guidelines that the business sends down. They send down a document of what will be going in each window, this is the first time we find out what will be our campaign for the Christmas period. In addition to this, they also send down a document breaking down every individual piece we will have for the windows and for the in-store scheme, on this document they also tell us when an outside team will come into the store and put up our lit garlands along the walkway. The first part of Christmas goes in a week before the Christmas windows start. This is when the VM team work alongside a team through the night to implement Christmas within the store. We get delivered all of our Christmas props in one night, which is so time-consuming to try and prepare for, especially when there is only two of you on VM.
However, once it’s been delivered it’s on to putting out the many Christmas trees they provide us with. They provide us with 3 sizes of trees, 2.4m 1.9m and 1.6m. We then have to distribute the trees around the store, focusing on mainly grouping them with mannequins and event zones. Once the trees have been fluffed and put into place it’s time to add the garlands in any walls of the store that are empty. These garlands have added present boxes on to them to give it more of a festive vibe throughout the store. This year because of pairing with the Paddington film we had added suitcases to mimic the suitcase Paddington has. The food section has its own scheme with adding more props like luggage tags hanging from the ceiling and pots of marmalade to co-inside with the Paddington theme running throughout the store.
I know this is a day late but I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas.I hope you all had a lovely time with your families and loved ones as much as I did. It’s such a precious thing that we just don’t do often and that’s just sit down and have a meal together full of joy and happiness. For my family it’s been a rough year, so sitting together all being well was just lovely to see that 2016 hadn’t broken any of us. Though I didn’t get many presents, I wasn’t bothered. I was more bothered about people opening their personalised sacks I got them that had lots of presents that I know they would love.
I just want to thank you guys. To everyone that watches my Youtube videos, to people that read my blog and just to the people that show their support and always believe that I can do things. Reading from my last post I really hit a low point on that day. But I am now determined to let all my emotions stay in 2016. 2017 is a new year! Thank you again for all your support, I’m really looking forward to starting a new year and really focusing on my blog and YouTube. Let’s raise a glass to our families, our friends, to happiness within yourself and a new year! Cheers ♥
Christmas is just 4 days away and I thought it was appropriate that I did a Christmas video. With that in mind I wanted it to be fun as I hadn’t been feeling the Christmas spirit. When I woke up on the Sunday I was doing my video I had instantly felt the Christmas spirit and wanted to do something to do with Christmas. I looked over to my rail of clothes, that is ever expanding and saw I had at least 5 or 6 Christmas jumpers. So this video is a fun video showing off my Christmas jumpers and is just a little bit silly. Whenever I see a Christmas or fair isle jumper I feel inclined to buy them as I just really love them. I’m not one for overly novelty Christmas jumpers. I’m all about being chic at Christmas. I hope this video brings a smile to your face…..
So party season is upon us once more, which means the party outfits are out in force. I don’t really tend to follow trends, I just buy things that I love and mix it up with things I already own to give a classic yet trendy kind of style.
This year is no exception, I’ve put together a little video of my favourite looks that I have pulled out of my wardrobe. I’ve also taken a few photographs to break down the looks and showcase each look differently.
Outfit 1: Faux Fur Frenzy: Faux Fur Frenzy: While shopping on Asos one morning I stumbled across this faux fur stole which I thought just looked incredible and I instantly thought of how many outfits I could put with this accessory. Instantly my mind went to my black thrifted oversized blazer. Teaming the blazer up with a plain white shirt underneath also from Asos. Along with my peg tapered trousers also from ASOS. My shoes are from eBay and are very similar to a creeper style shoe. The stole has popper buttons to snap the stole together at the bottom like shown on my picture or you can just wear it loose and have it around a collar to show off your outfit a little more. As well as this colour they also have a black version to this which I shall link below with the one I’m wearing also. This outfit is a perfect outfit for an elegant night out or even just a formal dinner. One of my favourite dressed up outfits from the lookbook video I have done.
Outfit 2: Pastel: So some of you might of already seen some of my outfit from this particular outfit showcase. The suit I’m wearing is also the suit I wore to a wedding I attended this year ( The Wedding post) It’s a super skinny grey formal suit from ASOS. They have similar suits in different colours that are nearly the same. It’s a very tight-fitting, almost so tight it can just about get over my feet when I put the trousers on! Teaming this suit up with a pastel pink mini roll neck just gives it a different look instead of wearing a shirt underneath, and with it being cold it’s the perfect alternative to a shirt. My shoes, white monk strap shoes, are also from Asos but they no longer do these shoes anymore.
This outfit is perfect for a more formal setting that wearing a suit is more appropriate.
Outfit 3: Souvenir Jacket: So this year souvenir jackets has become a big thing. A jacket with an embroidered photograph on the back or the front have been deemed very popular among the fashion world which we will also see continuing into Spring and Summer 2017. The jacket I’m wearing is from Primark which only cost me £8, it is a women’s jacket, however I don’t really think you can tell. Even if it does have flowers on it as many of the men’s jackets also now have flowers which have been embroidered onto the jacket. Teaming this jacket with a formal penny collar shirt from Asos and a pair of pink trousers from Asos to bring the pink out of the jacket. As you all know I love a good bow and this one I made myself to give the outfit something a little different. My shoes are the shoes seen in the previous outfit which are from Asos.
Outfit 4: Tartan Take-down: I’m a big fan of Tartan and what a great time to wear it too, this close to Christmas. Topman always have an amazing selection of Tartan trousers or chinos. The super skinny chino type trouser I’m wearing in this outfit are in fact from Topman. Teaming it up with my collarless camel coat from Asos, that I adore. It comes out every single time there is a chill in the air. Camel will always be a colour that I deem very sophisticated and elegant. It’s a perfect addition to this outfit. Teaming all of this with a dark camel roll neck may seem a little weird but it actually seems to go so well. Then finally adding a Chelsea boot from New Look, just makes the outfit whole. This outfit is perfect for any occasion.
Check out my YouTube video that I showcase each and every outfit out:
So every year I get the same question asked me… “Luke, what would you like for Christmas?” To be honest, the boy who has every kind of fashion element to his wardrobe and I’m not really one for expensive cosmetics or things like that, So I must be a nightmare to buy for. Christmas for me is more about the giving, I love to give out things that people have wanted for so long. I take mental notes throughout the year and keep lists of what people have said they want, which comes very handy when it comes to Christmas. Presentation of how you give the present and what card you give is also a big thing for me. It has to be kept in the same aesthetic, all one theme. But I’ll do a different post about how I wrap presents and cards another time. For now here is my Wish List for Christmas as I’ve been made to do one!
- Zara Cape – Now, like I said in my video I found this cape a couple of weeks ago. Since then I’ve tried to track it down and nothing has come to light, I can’t find it anywhere. So this is a Zara Cape that I’d love but can’t find anywhere anymore.
- ASOS Suede Boot – I’ve never really loved suede as much as other materials but this year I’ve come to realise how smart looking they really are. Maybe, just a little impractical where I live out in the countryside but they would certainly look good with a killer outfit. From ASOS and at a reasonable price. Just what you want for a pair of boots for winter.
- ASOS Blanket Scarf – I love a good blanket scarf. Something to smother me on those cold winter days wins in my book. I have 4 already and alternate them with different coats every day for work so adding another one that would really go with my camel coat would be something I’d welcome any day of the week! At just £18 it’s a steal!
- River Island Bomber Jacket – This jacket should be number 1 on my list as it’s just stunning. The detailing on the collar is so superior to any bomber jacket I’ve seen. River Island always gets it right with their jackets and this one is no exception! At £75, it’s a little pricey for a Christmas present but it would be totally worth it.
- Topman Velvet Zip Through Shirt – Velvet is a big trend at the moment and is continuing to dominate the fashion world. Everything is velvet at the moment and Topman has got it right with this Zip through shirt. It comes in either the green which I love or the Burgundy (Link) A simple way to introduce the velvet trend into your wardrobe at a small price of just £35!
- M&S Fairisle PJs – These pj’s are to die for. I love anything with polar bears and a little bit of fair isle. Yes, they might be kids but I’m fortunate or unfortunate to fit into them. The prices vary as the size goes up but still a very reasonable price!
- ASOS Khaki Fedora – Anybody that knows will know I love a good hat and ASOS make amazing hats. Again dipping into a high trend at the moment which khaki, so it would be perfect to introduce this colour to your wardrobe with accessories instead of going the whole khaki clothing.
- Topman Roll Neck – Not mentioned on my video as I was silly to miss it out. But this Topman ribbed roll neck is what you need on those cold days in winter. A gorgeous colour and a reasonable price.
That concludes my Christmas wish-list, here is my video that goes into more depth about each product:
