This weekend Telford shopping centre are holding a Lifestyle and fashion event. Instead of the conventional models down a runway fashion show, Telford Shopping Centre have created 3 pop up zones where they showcase 3 different capsules looks and on-trend pieces. I was lucky enough to be asked to do a little bit of a blog post and I’ve also created a little video to capture some of the trending looks at the moment. The shows are every 20 minutes throughout the day so you have no excuse on missing one during your shopping time at the Town Centre!
The first capsule located on New Row (Near House of Fraser) and is a mix of autumnal tones and animal print. The models strutted their stuff to the music while showcasing what they were wearing. With pieces from Zara, River Island and much more. The capsule embodies the latest trend of Animal prints and the soft autumn tones of the season. Camels, khakis and beige where the woman rocked pieces with the ever so trendy animal print. Key pieces for me was the Zara print joggers and River Island Bomber Jacket outfit.
The second capsule is located in Dean Street(Outside M&S and Primark) and is a mix of metallics and winter layering. The models came out and did a big dance routine, which I thought was very clever as it kinds of gives you an idea to what the clothes would look like in movement instead of being rigid, after all, this was where they showcased some occasion-wear and no doubt people would want to see how it would stand up to some dance moves. With pieces from M&S, Primark and House of Fraser the dance routine went down a storm and really showcased the clothes well. Some of the models were wearing this season’s hottest trend and that is the metallics and others were wearing coats and scarves for the layering element. Key pieces/outfits for me was the M&S shearling coat (very biased as I work there) and the Primark green embroidered bomber jacket outfit.
The final capsule is located in Sherwood Square (Outside Next and Sports Direct) and is a mix of street and pretty embroidered pieces. The models also did a big dance routine for this display too. They picked some of the key trends for this street wear look which was Joggers with tailoring staples and also embroidered jeans which are very big at the moment. Pieces from New Look, Tag and Next taking centre stage on the basketball court-shaped dance floor. Key pieces from there were the Next embroidered lion bomber jacket for kids and the Burgundy overcoat from New Look.
I really enjoyed being a guest blogger for the Town Centre, I really enjoyed watching the shows and I hope it inspires more people to think differently about how to style their clothes and how to pick up on key trends. I’ve put together a short video of the shows to give you a little sneak peek of what’s in store for you if you head on down to Telford this weekend.
Just like Miranda Priestly said in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ “Floral for Spring? Groundbreaking! However I’m really loving all the different types of floral there is, some places are mixing the florals print with china prints such as Marks and Spencers where I work. They have a whole collection called china blue where it has florals mixed with a blue china print. Places like Topman, Zara and River Island have also jumped on this trend. To floral bomber jackets (which are my personal favourite at the moment) to floral trousers.
Floral bombers are something that I’m loving right now, I recently brought the Zara floral bomber/jacket on my birthday wish list which has very stylised flowers on the front of it that compare to that of a Vanitas painting (pictured to the right) I love the style and the colours of this jacket a big winner from Zara! Topman has also done an amazing floral bomber/Harrington jacket which I fell in love with instantly. I just love how vibrant and colourful the floral theme is and how it all blends together. It’s a definitely going to be a purchase of mine!
Another few items that have caught my eye with the floral trend are a floral sweatshirt from, yes you’ve guessed it Zara. Zara do floral so well, they have such a wide range of different styles I love this white sweatshirt with the single red rose and rose leaves. I love the contrast against the white, it’s a perfect dress down sweatshirt to throw on over skinny jeans or black skinny joggers.
Another winner from Zara is these floral trousers. I’ve always wanted a floral pair of trousers that aren’t too out there. This subtle print of floral is just enough, teamed with a simple plain white t-shirt with sandals and sunglasses you have the perfect summer outfit. A perfect combination for a holiday outfit in the sun!
If you’re not brave enough to go full floral then add a bud a of floral instead of a whole rockery full of flowers. By just adding accessories to your outfits that have floral design on them, you will then be immersing yourself with the floral trend and adding a touch more colour to your outfits. Why not add a floral bow tie from ASOS to your outfit? Or why not add a floral kick to your step and go with a floral shoe from ASOS instead?
Spring has finally sprung, with its pastel colours contrasting with the reminiscence of the dark and drab winter fashion. Walking around most of the retailers now everywhere has pops of colour, blue, pink and yellow being the strongest of the colour pop. I love the fact that the old winter stock is starting to filtrate out and the new season is upon us, Topman is one of the main retailers at the moment that seem to being doing this very well. With soft pastel jumpers being teamed up with the harsh darkness of monochrome to add a tiny splash of colour to the mix. The pink and blue jumpers are just some of the new lines added to Topman for the new spring season. Adding a black or grey duster coat (like pictured) or a leather jacket (like pictured) with dark jeans or trousers will give it that new twist on the monochrome look. Finishing the look with either black or white shoes, boots for a more grungy kind of look or trainers for a casual styling. If you’re feeling a bit more daring with colours why not try this pastel blue smoking jacket from Topman Limited as the main focus. Build your monochrome look with a splash of black underneath the pastel spring colour.
I love the monochrome look it gives any person an element of mystery and sophistication in just one look, I wear a lot of black (As seen here and here) at the moment due to it being winter but as soon as I start seeing some more infiltration of Spring within the retailers I’ll definitely start brightening up my wardrobe.
I’m going to try and do a Trend Report every time I see new things coming into shops or if something catches my eye that a lot of shops are doing so I can keep you guys in the loop. So at the moment walking around the shops I can see a very strong trend coming through. Tropical Print, if it’s not a strong Hawaiian bold styled print it’s a subtle Tropical vibe with floral flowers or even exotic animals. There are many options for you to wear this trend. From shirts, t-shirts, jumpers even shorts and blazers. I personally love this trend I’ve seen it come through on the clothes at work (Marks and Spencer’s) on the women’s clothes and I thought how cool would it be for other shops to jump on the band wagon and start doing these kind of prints on mens clothes. Then a week or two later and it’s everywhere. I really love the bold prints with the vibrant pop of colour to brighten any outfit. I love how you can dress yourself as a tropical rain forest with a head to toe look or just you could just have a subtle hint of tropical with a Flamingo. There are so many variations of the print which is something else I really love. You have full on Hawaiian dad shirt print to the fern leaf print or just a full on jungle. It’s a very summery print and will brighten up a dull summers day or even brighten up the 4 day sun period we get here in the UK. I’ve put some examples of a few of the trends on here. They all range from Topman, Zara, H&M and River Island.
