So after the disaster of not having enough lights for our monster tree, I went and purchased some more lights to make sure our tree shone like the brightest star. With the help of my mom, who hobbles into shot half way through we make sure Christmas is full in force at the Heywood househould.
Okay, okay it’s only cancelled till Wednesday! But let’s take you back to the start of my day. It’s Sunday, December the 6th, I awoke feeling super Christmassy and it was such excitement I realised my parents are getting the tree on this day. I started the day by getting into one of my favourite Christmas jumpers and completely decked myself in Christmas things. My deer antlers made an appearance too. After dancing around my room for a good 2 hours to Christmas songs, I decided to sit down and write my family’s Christmas cards. Any sort of greeting card to me is a way of showing emotion and affection and this is where I pour my heart out. After writing my Christmas cards, my parents arrived with the Christmas tree. My grandad has many Christmas trees that he’s planted over his time living at his house and most years (depending on what my mom wants that year) we have a tree that my grandad has grown himself. So this year my mom was super picky and wanted the top of the 20ft tree. After chopping it down and trying to get it in the house, the tree is still very much touching the ceiling. As I start to decorate I look a the boxes of decorations we have and realise this isn’t going to work. We don’t have enough lights nor do we have enough decorations. So I have to wait till Wednesday to actually decorate the tree when I have half a day at work so I can also record my beautiful performance. But anyway here’s the video of what I thought was going to be decorating the Christmas tree….
So November 29th I went and saw Marina and The Diamonds with the lovely Tom and she was actually out of this world. Marina is someone I’ve wanted to see for a long time, Since her first album ‘The Family Jewels’. I was given the opportunity to go her last tour, but I was too ill to go which was really upsetting as I’ve wanted to see her since the beginning. So when I saw that she was going to Birmingham there was no stopping me from going this time regardless of what happens!
I drove myself and Tom to Birmingham which in it self was a mission. An hour and a half drive later we arrived 5 minutes before the doors were meant to open. However we started to queue up and 6 o’clock passed and so did 6:30. Standing in the rain in just my dungarees, a white jumper, a blanket scarf over my head to keep me from getting wet and my iconic love heart on my cheek, I was freezing. But I wasn’t going to let the rain dampen my mood. 7 o’clock turned and the doors finally opened and I was so so so excited to see Marina. 8.30 was when Marina came onto the stage and in that instant I overcame with happiness and sheer emotion. I’ve never had this emotion of being so excited and wanting to burst out in tears. I was in the same room as the woman who has given me joy with her music for so many years.
The gig was set into 3 acts as Marina has 3 albums.
The Family Jewels.
Electra heart will always be my favourite era of Marina’s, I just love the pop synth and electro all mashed into one. The visuals for this era too were like a dream come true for somebody who is creative like myself, I love that she embodied a character for this era and played out the death of her when she finally found out who she really was. Froot comes next with its unusual sounding and juxtaposition meanings towards the songs. All in all Marina is just an amazing songwriter and a mastermind when it comes to the visual side of her albums.
Even though I had to be up for work at 5 o’clock the next day and I didn’t get in till nearly 1 o’clock I had the most amazing time ever. I for sure want to go see her again and try to get even closer than I did this time. THANK YOU MARINA ♥
So today I spent the day with the lovely Tom, we went for a Starbucks and did a little window shopping. In Starbucks the lady behind the till asked us what we wanted on our cups and I said just put anything and she came up with “Lukie Boy, love your hat” which was a nice touch! I had a refreshing coffee cooler while Tom had a lime refresher. After spending a few hours in Starbucks we went for a little stroll into the town centre and went window shopping. Tom tried on a really nautical and lovely outfit from River Island which sparked a selfie of us both with our outfits. The only thing I purchased from the shopping centre was my Acqua Di Gio, Giorgio Armani aftershave which is beautiful. It smells so good, I keep smelling myself because it smells so good. After a stroll around when decided to take a few photos showcasing our outfits and did some selfies together. Which then lead onto our outfit showcase video….. enjoy!
Yesterday evening I went out with my best friends, we haven’t seen each other in over 2 weeks which is unheard for us as we normally go out every Saturday. But due to birthday celebrations we haven’t seen each other. We went to the cinema to go and see Pitch Perfect 2. We love our cinema trips, buying huge amounts of popcorn and sweets. It was so good this time there was 25% off the pick and mix so we treated to ourselves to big bag of sweets. The film was so funny, fat Amy was the best character in that film by far, she was so funny. The songs they chose to sing also were on point. I swear half of my playlist was on there. One part of the film showed the rival a capella group singing and they had some amazing clothes on. I love the pleated short/skirt that they were wearing. I turned to my friend and asked if I was a bad person for actually liking their outfit. She just gave me this look of disappointment. After our cinema rendezvous we went around the corner to Chimichangas and had our normal meal that we have whenever we go. It’s a wonder the waitresses in there don’t know what we order already because of the amount of times we are there. Over our meal there was talk with my best friend of moving out and all the things we are going to do like different coloured mugs depending on what mood we’re in. So say when I wake up in the morning and I’m in a crappy mood I will indicate that with a red mug, I’ll then leave the red mug by the sink so my best friend knows what mood I’m in. I did say just write it on a blackboard instead as it’d be so much easier. But I’m excited that we’re talking about it more and actually getting around to looking for places and thinking decorative ideas. It’s exciting.
So for my outfit for the evening out I thought I’d showcase it a little differently in forms of Polaroids/Instax. So I wore my white shirt and my Zara tropical printed jacket with my black super skinny jeans and my creepers which I totally forgot that I had. I love my creepers, I really want to buy some white ones as they go with any outfit. I definitely felt like I was reppin the tropical vibe with this jacket. It definitely turned some heads but that doesn’t bother me. It made me feel so good.
So yesterday the 13/05/2015 I went to Birmingham with my lovely friend Tom and we shopped till we dropped. River Island had recently had a refurbishment and it looked amazing so I had to take some Polaroids for it as it looked so good! We went around all the shops first eyeing up what we wanted and liked within the Bullring and then we thought it was time for something to eat. So Pizza Hut it was for an all you can eat buffet. An hour and a half later after we’d eaten half of Pizza Hut Tom took me to Cow Vintage and The Custard Factory which is a place I’ve never been too in Birmingham. Just a 5-10 minute walk from the bullring and you enter vintage heaven with an array of vintage shops and quirky outlet stores. While in Cow Vintage I found a pair of Denim dungarees that were a small. I was umming and ahhing whether I should get them or not as I had a few dungarees. But I thought to myself that I didn’t have any full length dungarees that were denim. £24 later I walked away from Cow vintage with a pair of denim dungarees. After our little vintage haul we went to Costa and had a little sit down, had a drink and a little people watching session.
After we had a little moment to ourselves we went back into the Bullring and purchased all the things we wanted. I only wanted a jacket from Zara that I had seen on the internet and I was hoping it was there. As I walked in I saw nothing, but walking up the stairs onto the next level it was there waiting for me to be purchased. £59.99 down but I had the most beautiful jacket ever. I can’t wait to style it and put an outfit together. Overall it was a really lovely day and something different to what I normally do. From being sprayed with every mens fragrance e possible to sissying that walk around the bullring. A very much-needed shopping spree and all round lovely day!
So today I went out for a little catch up with the lovely Tom who is a very dear tumblr friend of mine. We’re like exactly the same person when it comes to taste in music as well as our whole aesthetic. We went for a coffee at Starbucks for a little bitching session as well as a catch up on life. After we finished our little bitching session we went on a lovely walk in the sunshine and had a photography session against a gorgeous floral bush. Equipped with our Instax and Tom with his Polaroid we thought it would be a fun photo session. The whole aesthetic of the photo session was very Lana Del Rey vibe coming from it and I thought what a perfect way to showcase my outfit that I had on. So the outfit I was wearing you might have seen before in a previous post when I went to Disneyland minus the roll neck as it was too warm for that. My Zara jacket looked in place with this floral background it just looked stunning. Teamed up with my new white sweatshirt which you will see again in another photo shoot I’m planning on Monday. The sweatshirt was purchased from Ebay for £5.99! We enjoyed out little photo shoot and we definitely are going to do more of them as we both love photography and fashion so it’s perfect!
So this weekend I went to London to go to see wicked. It was amazing and I loved it so much. Sadly I left my camera at home and didn’t get any decent pictures of my outfits however I did take my Polaroid and got a few of me before we went out to the theatre, like I said I wore my high-waisted ASOS trousers along with my blazer and grid print shirt.
I love this outfit as it makes me feel a little sophisticated as well as being super comfy. I always have to have an accessory on every outfit that I have. For this outfit I had my stag pin, now don’t ask my why I always add an accessory as I have no reason why I do it, other than to top the outfit off. With this outfit I would normally wear my fedora hat but I thought going to a theatre it was unnecessary to wear a hat. Buying things for memory sake is becoming a big thing for me at the moment. No matter where I go I always buy something for keepsake, I have a treasure chest filled with memories, so in Luke fashion I purchased the Wicked Souvenir Programme.
On Monday my friends and I also went to Chester Zoo. I haven’t been to Chester Zoo for years and years. The weather told us it was going to be sunny and warm, this however was not the case. It was cloudy and got to about 13 degrees. I wore my new tartan dungarees (purchased by a follower) with a black chiffon shirt from Primark with the added accessory being my sunglasses. I was very cold but I’m glad I took my cape with me just in case the weather didn’t turn out how it planned. Just liked Wicked I also came away with a small giraffe cuddly toy and a giraffe key ring.
As you all know I was running a competition giveaway for you, for the chance to win some clothes from me. Well it’s that time to announce the winner. I wrote everyone’s entries on a piece of a paper how many times the reblogged it from tumblr, how many times they retweeted it on twitter as well as sharing on Facebook. I then put them all into a jar and got my brother to select a winner…… Well done to James Thomas!! You were the named picked out of the jar so well done to you. Thank you to everyone who took part and don’t worry I’ll be doing another giveaway very soon so stay tuned!
So tomorrow (April 11th) I’m going to London with my best friend and her sister to go see Wicked for her birthday. We are staying overnight so I’ve had to plan a couple of outfits. Casual on the way down and dress it up for the night. So what’s in my bag? I’m taking my super skinny jeans from River Island along with my slogan t-shirt “More Issues Than Vogue” with my denim jacket and my wide brim fedora hat. It’s a comfortable outfit that doesn’t need much effort. On the evening I was thinking to swap my skinny jeans for high-waisted trousers and throwing on my blazer with added stag pin. I might also change my t-shirt for my white grid print shirt (seen here) I love this outfit as it just gives my look a hint of sophistication with a touch of elegance. I’ll also be taking my Oyster card as I used to go to London a lot back in the day I remembered I had one and dug it out of my memory box as well as this I shall be taking my Polaroid to get some cool snaps of London. I’ll make sure I will get snaps of my outfits while I’m there or before I go to show you for when I come back.
