When things aren’t always as they seem with people and life, my siblings have always been there for me. Regardless of one of them being away at uni, they always know how to cheer me up. My sister did this yesterday. Tensions ran high and tempers frayed within my social circle but my sister seemed to make me laugh and while we made our silly little video it made me realise that you have to value those close at hand. Your family. You have your ups and downs like any family but I wouldn’t trade mine for the world.
So recently I’ve been lusting over items of clothing that I didn’t think I’d ever wear. It’s all thanks to H&M. Since purchasing the long line grid print shirt, it’s flipped my sense of style on its head. I’ve starting buying things are a little unusual or I wouldn’t normally wear. Take for instance these two. I would never normally wear a hoody but the fact it’s Khaki sold it instantly but it’s a long line hoody which would normally just throw it off completely. I’ve wanted to introduce new things to my style for a while now. I felt my style was getting very samey and now I’ve broken the mould and gone with things a little different and I plan for it to carry on. I also saw this jumper with a saying on the back of it, “Undo the future” which I thought was a cool and different. Both are from the divided section of H&M where I think I’m going to be shopping from.
So while I was at work one day in the men’s fitting rooms attending to a mannequin, a guy came in to try on a shirt. I was blasted by a smell that was out of this world. A strong yet sweet smell. I instantly had to know what this smell was. I love smelling nice and this smell was just nice. It was strong and overly powerful. Once he retreated from the fitting room I instantly asked him what fragrance he was wearing and he was flattered that I noticed it. He told me what it was, Viktor & Rolf – Spicebomb. The next day I was going to Birmingham Bull Ring for a little bit of shopping and I made a dash to The Fragrance Shop as there was 20% off all fragrances which made my little gift set only £34 which was a bargain! I love the fragrance so much. People at work have said even when I’ve left work they can still smell me and it’s a lovely smell… thank goodness!
With the amount of roll necks I own I thought it was fitting to do a video on How I style turtle necks/roll necks whatever you want to call them. I have a good 11/12 and I love every single one. I just love how sophisticated they make an outfit and that they are so easy to layer over. I have one in nearly every colour. I’m on the look out for a green one as this is pretty much the only colour I don’t own. In my video I’ve done 5 outfits that are casual and 2 that are more formal looking. Click the image below to see a bigger picture of the outfits.
My favourite outfit has to be number 4 and number 5. I adore my tartan kimono along with my black Topman ribbed roll neck teamed up with my big wide brim fedora hat. Outfit number 5 has to be my go to outfit. It’s so easy to wear and just so me. My rust coloured roll neck ties this whole look together.
Which is your favourite?
Having purchased a long line shirt from H&M I wanted to try to create a different outfit to what I’m used to doing. My style is always refined and a little bit goody two shoes. I want to start branching out to the grungy side of fashion and take aspects of that aesthetic and implement it into my fashion. I imagined an outfit that was a little bit edgier than what I’d normally do. Which is where I want my style to go. I want to try new things and see if they suit me, like the risk I took with this long line shirt. I didn’t think long line shirts would suit me only being 5ft 7 and half but I really dig this grid print shirt and I most certainly will be buying more. I did intend to film this video on the park near me but due to vandalism it was closed so I had to quickly change my ideas and this popped to mind. I was totally going for the grunge aesthetic here.
From as long as I can remember Maleficent has always been my idol. My favourite Disney villain of all time. She is the queen of evil and darkness. For Halloween this year I wanted to re-create my Idol, but as the male fashionista version of her. I wanted to embody her darkness and evil and channel it into something fashionable. Nothing says evil than an all black outfit. Starting with the Neoprene longline Boohoo coat that has slits up the side. It hands perfectly to act as a cape. Underneath this, I’ve used my chiffon black shirt from H&M to add a flowy feel to the look. On top of this I’ve added a feather neck piece to my evil look. I also put a ribbon around my neck to give the iconic neck piece of Maleficent. Teamed up with my high waisted trousers and monk-strap shoes, I’ve added 2 pieces of 4-metre chiffon fabric to add dramatics to the costume. Not to mention Maleficent’s iconic horns and staff.
To say I did this video and the photographs on my own is a good achievement in my books!
So while shopping in Manchester with my two best friends I found this grey coat in Topman which I instantly fell in love with. It was a toss-up between this coat and the camel coat I’ve lusted over for at least 3 years. But alas I picked the grey coat and I’m so glad I did. Being from Manchester I kinda knew no one where I live will have this coat. Teaming this coat up with a grey Boohoo roll neck and my new trousers from the women’s section at River Island. The perfect grey combination. Adding my famous hat and new signature boot, the look is complete.
For this outfit show case I did it with my lovely friend Tom again. Enjoy…
With Autumn well and truly here, it’s time to dig out the Autumn and Winter clothes. While shopping in Merry Hill, Dudley I found these amazing Denim dungarees that are girls yes from Topshop which I knew had my name written all over it. I’ve been looking for the perfect black denim dungarees for a year or two now. However, I nearly didn’t get them because of buying a size too big and also not looking at the label as it was a maternity dungarees! So I took it back and purchased a size 8 and made sure it wasn’t a maternity dungarees this time. Across the way was a beautiful red roll neck which I knew would go perfectly with the dungarees. Finishing the whole look with New Look men’s Chelsea Boots perfect for the winter months ahead and my Wide brim fedora for H&M. So I’ve done an outfit showcase for this look but will need to upload as soon as I come back from work later today.
With the British summer now fading away every so quickly I thought it was time to dig out my Autumn and Winter clothes. From my previous post about camel and how big it is this season, I thought I’d purchased a few extra items that were my favourite colour for the next few months. Starting with the camel trousers from ASOS, a pair of trousers I can easily dress up or dress down, layering up with my famous white eBay roll neck and adding that extra layer with my real Topman leather jacket add a camel wide brim fedora from ASOS and some fur lined boots which are also from ASOS and the look is complete and ready for those cold days and evenings.
Lately, there has been a lot of emphasis on the 70’s which by looking on my previous post is here to stay into Autumn and Winter. So I thought I’d jump on the bang wagon and style my own 70’s piece. I found this amazing denim boiler suit on Forever 21 in the women’s section and I had to have it. It’s a lightweight denim so perfect for summer but also perfect to layer up for those cold Autumn and Winter months ahead. For this look, I styled it ready for the Autumn and Winter months by adding a roll neck underneath to give the layering effect.
So Tom and I have wanted to find this abandoned house which isn’t far from where we live, so I went on google maps and for hours I searched this house. It so happened that a fire broke out randomly in the house and it’s been there ever since. I finally found it on google maps and today was the day we took it upon ourselves to go and do some photography and a video for me. It’s only a short outfit showcase and a little bit of what we got up to and a mini movie kind a thing that we had fun making aha! So the in this outfit showcase I am wearing. My famous wide brim hat from H&M. An amazing longline kimono from eBay which was only £8 an amazing bargain. I love how it swoops and is so cool. I then am wearing a vertical over-sized stripe t-shirt from Topman, my high waisted trousers from Asos and my brand new tasseled loafer shoes. I have also done a video for this outfit showcase so enjoy!
