So the other day while trying to be clever and sort out my blog. I do the worst thing imaginable for a blogger and that’s completely delete their blog. How did I do this I hear you ask? I tell all in this video just how silly and stupid I really am…..
Embroidery is decorating fabric or other materials with a needle and thread or yarn. Embroidery may also incorporate other materials such as, pearls, beads, quills, and sequins. Today, embroidery is most often seen on caps, hats, coats, blankets, dress shirts, denim, stockings, and golf shirts.
Before Christmas we started to see this trend take centre stage within women’s products. However, It’s now started coming through all over the menswear scene. From shirts, jackets shoes and bags. Everything now has some kind of embroidered piece to it. I for one love this trend, I love anything that has a quirky motif to enhance the garment. I’ve selected a few items from my favourite websites to showcase the best the world of high street fashion has to offer…
If you’re a lovely returning person who reads my blog you know that I adore ASOS. ASOS always do a trend right. They jump on it and then take it 10374944 times into the next dimension and this trend hasn’t disappointed me! ASOS normally embroider flowers but they’ve stepped up their game and started to embroider different thing like birds and crowns which is even more reason to fall in love with ASOS. I love that they’ve added a little femininity into their designs but still kept the masculinity in the garments as some guys aren’t prepared to wear something that has flowers or birds on them. The denim jacket is my all time favourite piece from ASOS, It’s an awesome design and it even has a borg collar which I adore so much!
River Island has also jumped onto the embroidered trend but as always have taken the street style kind of approach. Their garments always ooze that street cred that people strive for. That little bit edgy and grungy kind of feel to it. While River Island have only really stuck to the hoody, the renowned bomber jacket and t-shirts, it hasn’t been as adventurous as it’s competitor ASOS. None the less the garments are flawless in design and I would like all of them please!
Now H&M don’t normally have things for men that are a little bit out there. However, This jacket is something I want and need in my life. But this is the only embroidered piece I could find on the men’s section. This is a stunning shirt jacket that’s perfect for layering. With floral detailing on the arms and on the back of the jacket it’s the perfect addition to your Spring wardrobe. I need this in my life as soon as possible!
So the pyjama styling has been around now for nearly a year. But I’ve recently fallen so deeply in love with it. That fact a lot of places are now including it in their Spring and Summer collections is making me so happy. With the likes of ASOS, River Island, and Marks and Spencer’s all following this trend into Spring and Summer. The outfit I’m wearing is currently in the sale at Dorothy Perkins. I found the trousers which I instantly fell in love with, I’m someone who’s always into Cigarette trousers or skinny jeans. So to wear a wide leg in the style of a pyjama was something new to me, I wasn’t sure whether it would look right on me as I’m skinny. However, I decided to buy them there and then! £12 for the trousers. Bargain! I then found a similar style shirt on ASOS that looked perfect. However, when it arrived, the colouring was way off compared to the trousers. Instead of white pipping it was like a beige colour pipping, so I sent it back. I then needed a shirt that matched the trousers. So I typed into google, pyjama style pipped shirt and low and behold the shirt to match the trousers was on Dorothy Perkins. Size 12 which is what I have to get in women’s as I’m broad shouldered for £7! Another bargain.
When Styling I wanted to keep it simple and something I could wear in all seasons. However it’s winter here so adding a roll neck underneath was needed. I added my ribbed white roll neck from Topman and I really loved that it added just that extra look to the outfit. Throw on my much loved fedora hat and my M&S trainers and I was away. I really love this outfit and it has been one of the comfiest outfits in my wardrobe to date. Check out my video:
Say Hello to the brown haired Luke!
With trends at the moment weaving in and out of the 90’s, I styled myself in something that resembles that of the 90’s. Sporty Luxe. A trend where you mix sporty items with clothing that looks high end, giving you the sporty luxe trend. Teaming a sporty looking jumper with a ribbed roll neck underneath gives you that extra layer for those colder days. Adding a pair of wool joggers to give you that laid back relaxed athletic vibe. While adding a pair of white socks and white trainers to finish off the sporty look.
This has to be one of my favourite looks right now, adding my light grey duster jacket over the top of the outfit makes it look very on trend at the moment. I love how easy yet stylish the outfit is.
All items are now in the sale so go find a bargain!
Christmas is just 4 days away and I thought it was appropriate that I did a Christmas video. With that in mind I wanted it to be fun as I hadn’t been feeling the Christmas spirit. When I woke up on the Sunday I was doing my video I had instantly felt the Christmas spirit and wanted to do something to do with Christmas. I looked over to my rail of clothes, that is ever expanding and saw I had at least 5 or 6 Christmas jumpers. So this video is a fun video showing off my Christmas jumpers and is just a little bit silly. Whenever I see a Christmas or fair isle jumper I feel inclined to buy them as I just really love them. I’m not one for overly novelty Christmas jumpers. I’m all about being chic at Christmas. I hope this video brings a smile to your face…..
So every year I get the same question asked me… “Luke, what would you like for Christmas?” To be honest, the boy who has every kind of fashion element to his wardrobe and I’m not really one for expensive cosmetics or things like that, So I must be a nightmare to buy for. Christmas for me is more about the giving, I love to give out things that people have wanted for so long. I take mental notes throughout the year and keep lists of what people have said they want, which comes very handy when it comes to Christmas. Presentation of how you give the present and what card you give is also a big thing for me. It has to be kept in the same aesthetic, all one theme. But I’ll do a different post about how I wrap presents and cards another time. For now here is my Wish List for Christmas as I’ve been made to do one!
- Zara Cape – Now, like I said in my video I found this cape a couple of weeks ago. Since then I’ve tried to track it down and nothing has come to light, I can’t find it anywhere. So this is a Zara Cape that I’d love but can’t find anywhere anymore.
- ASOS Suede Boot – I’ve never really loved suede as much as other materials but this year I’ve come to realise how smart looking they really are. Maybe, just a little impractical where I live out in the countryside but they would certainly look good with a killer outfit. From ASOS and at a reasonable price. Just what you want for a pair of boots for winter.
- ASOS Blanket Scarf – I love a good blanket scarf. Something to smother me on those cold winter days wins in my book. I have 4 already and alternate them with different coats every day for work so adding another one that would really go with my camel coat would be something I’d welcome any day of the week! At just £18 it’s a steal!
- River Island Bomber Jacket – This jacket should be number 1 on my list as it’s just stunning. The detailing on the collar is so superior to any bomber jacket I’ve seen. River Island always gets it right with their jackets and this one is no exception! At £75, it’s a little pricey for a Christmas present but it would be totally worth it.
- Topman Velvet Zip Through Shirt – Velvet is a big trend at the moment and is continuing to dominate the fashion world. Everything is velvet at the moment and Topman has got it right with this Zip through shirt. It comes in either the green which I love or the Burgundy (Link) A simple way to introduce the velvet trend into your wardrobe at a small price of just £35!
- M&S Fairisle PJs – These pj’s are to die for. I love anything with polar bears and a little bit of fair isle. Yes, they might be kids but I’m fortunate or unfortunate to fit into them. The prices vary as the size goes up but still a very reasonable price!
- ASOS Khaki Fedora – Anybody that knows will know I love a good hat and ASOS make amazing hats. Again dipping into a high trend at the moment which khaki, so it would be perfect to introduce this colour to your wardrobe with accessories instead of going the whole khaki clothing.
- Topman Roll Neck – Not mentioned on my video as I was silly to miss it out. But this Topman ribbed roll neck is what you need on those cold days in winter. A gorgeous colour and a reasonable price.
That concludes my Christmas wish-list, here is my video that goes into more depth about each product:
It’s that time of year again where all your winter clothes that have been tucked away for so long come back out to play. The heavyweight winter coats and jackets are a godsend on those cold, brisk wintry mornings. The blanket scarves protect your little nose from freezing. The thick wintry socks protect your toes and the thick heavyweight jumpers are back to drape over you to keep you warm. As much as I hate Autumn and Winter, I have to say there is nothing more I love than layering up. The possibilities are endless. Unless you want to look like the Michelin man from the car tyre advert then that’s up to you, but I do layer up as much as possible. So let’s get layering up and shield ourselves from the harsh winter. I know I am for certain!
This weekend Telford shopping centre are holding a Lifestyle and fashion event. Instead of the conventional models down a runway fashion show, Telford Shopping Centre have created 3 pop up zones where they showcase 3 different capsules looks and on-trend pieces. I was lucky enough to be asked to do a little bit of a blog post and I’ve also created a little video to capture some of the trending looks at the moment. The shows are every 20 minutes throughout the day so you have no excuse on missing one during your shopping time at the Town Centre!
The first capsule located on New Row (Near House of Fraser) and is a mix of autumnal tones and animal print. The models strutted their stuff to the music while showcasing what they were wearing. With pieces from Zara, River Island and much more. The capsule embodies the latest trend of Animal prints and the soft autumn tones of the season. Camels, khakis and beige where the woman rocked pieces with the ever so trendy animal print. Key pieces for me was the Zara print joggers and River Island Bomber Jacket outfit.
The second capsule is located in Dean Street(Outside M&S and Primark) and is a mix of metallics and winter layering. The models came out and did a big dance routine, which I thought was very clever as it kinds of gives you an idea to what the clothes would look like in movement instead of being rigid, after all, this was where they showcased some occasion-wear and no doubt people would want to see how it would stand up to some dance moves. With pieces from M&S, Primark and House of Fraser the dance routine went down a storm and really showcased the clothes well. Some of the models were wearing this season’s hottest trend and that is the metallics and others were wearing coats and scarves for the layering element. Key pieces/outfits for me was the M&S shearling coat (very biased as I work there) and the Primark green embroidered bomber jacket outfit.
The final capsule is located in Sherwood Square (Outside Next and Sports Direct) and is a mix of street and pretty embroidered pieces. The models also did a big dance routine for this display too. They picked some of the key trends for this street wear look which was Joggers with tailoring staples and also embroidered jeans which are very big at the moment. Pieces from New Look, Tag and Next taking centre stage on the basketball court-shaped dance floor. Key pieces from there were the Next embroidered lion bomber jacket for kids and the Burgundy overcoat from New Look.
I really enjoyed being a guest blogger for the Town Centre, I really enjoyed watching the shows and I hope it inspires more people to think differently about how to style their clothes and how to pick up on key trends. I’ve put together a short video of the shows to give you a little sneak peek of what’s in store for you if you head on down to Telford this weekend.
I’ve always been a big fan of Halloween. There’s nothing more I love to do than dress up and showcase my creativity. Year after year I’ve done many photoshoots with my siblings dressing them up in various costumes and taking them to various locations. But the last 2 years running I’ve to showcase my creativity by combining my love of Halloween and my love of fashion to create a fashion forward Halloween costumes. Last year I took it upon myself to make a Maleficent costume and do my own little photo shoot and video for my YouTube. It was the hardest photoshoot I’ve ever done as I was on my own. Trying to set the camera up for self-timer and not having a remote to set my camera off was so hard. I have many shots of me running away from the camera looking back with a weird look on my face. But after many attempts, I finally got the photograph which made my Maleficent shoot. To the left is my Maleficent favourite photograph and here is the link to my YouTube video featuring this look. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCkXY27dwbA
This year I decided to go a little more subtle with the photography and just do something along the lines of Gothic Chic. The Wide Brim Fedora is a staple piece in my wardrobe. I always with every outfit check to see if it goes. 9 times out of 10 it does but I always feel I’d over do an outfit if I wear it. I purchased Superdrug’s Spray Hair Chalk in the colour of silver for my hair. It didn’t work the best and it flakes a lot so that didn’t work too well. My bat bow tie was purchased from ASOS and I added the two bits of ribbon coming from it. My blazer is thrifted from a charity shop, which you’ve most likely seen in my other outfit showcases and the shirt was also from ASOS. See, I can’t even put a Halloween look together without using ASOS. This look also features a carved pumpkin by my fabulous mother. Here is the photograph of my Gothic Chic look….
Looking around my room I noticed I had a lot of shoes that I hadn’t worn or have worn once and then not worn again. I started making outfits up with the clothes I have in my room and adding the shoes together with them. Which then inspired me to show off me ever expanding shoe collection. Just a note… this isn’t all of my shoes either! I didn’t want to bore you guys with a very long video so here is the video…
What are your favourites?
