It’s been a while since I did a proper fashion video. With saving and holiday buying I’ve been really good with not buying many clothes. If I have purchased anything it’s been for holiday and in the sale. So I treated myself to an outfit that was full price. Walking around the men’s section of Primark I happened to stumble upon this gorgeous black ripped denim jacket. I normally wouldn’t buy jackets from Primark as the sizing is all weird and I always think they won’t last, however the appearance of this jacket won me over. At £19 it’s a steal. Also in Primark I saw in the men’s section the limited amount of jeans for men. So I headed over to the women’s section and found the perfect ripped jeans for just £15. I’ve always wanted black ripped jeans. Now my legs are getting bigger I just felt they would like aesthetically pleasing with the type of clothes I wear. After my trip to Primark I headed over to Zara where I instantly fell in love with this Pink long line t-shirt with ties on the side. (which is now in the sale for £12.99) It’s the perfect addition to my wardrobe. I really love the length and the addition of the ties. It gives it a cool vibe which I love a lot. I really enjoyed doing this video and I’m so happy to get back into blogging and YouTubing again. This won’t be the last of it. I promise ♥
There’s nothing like a good show to showcase this seasons trends and beauty trends. Telford Shopping centre is always on point when it comes to this kind of shows, and this season didn’t disappoint! I was invited to do a blogging special about the event and what’s going on, so let’s get down to what I got up to today.
We first went into the beauty section of the day which for me isn’t something I wouldn’t normally delve into. However, it opened up a new world to me and some of the products that I saw today I would definitely consider buying because of how good they made my skin look and feel. We went into Debenhams where the make-up master classes are being held. Our first point of call was Urban Decay. I know a little bit about Urban Decay but Kathy who works on there shared some information all about Urban Decay. She was super lovely and you could tell she had so much passion for the brand itself. She showed us the new range that was a Debenhams exclusive which is to hit stores on the 8th of June pictured here. She told us that the “Urban Decay Afterglow Highlighter Palette” was some what a favourite and that it’s a beautiful blend of tonal colours that sit beautifully on the skin. I tested them on my hand and for someone who doesn’t really use make-up I thought how light and how much I couldn’t feel it on my skin. Kathy could have sold anything to me even though I don’t wear make-up, she knew her products and was passionate about what she does!
After Urban Decay we headed over to the Channel stand where we were given a demonstration on their new range called “Les Beiges” A natural looking make up range perfect for that subtle make up wearer who doesn’t want that heavy make-up look. We got shown different techniques and ways to apply the make-up that I found absolutely fascinating. Not coming from a very known make-up background it was fascinating to see different techniques to perfect that natural look.
After our Channel demo, we headed over to the Estee Lauder where we met Claire who has worked on the Estee Lauder stand for a while. She talked a little about the brand. Again because I don’t really have a background in make-up it was still interesting to hear all the things Estee Lauder actually does. One of the products that Claire showed us was “Nutritious Micro-Algae” Which is a 4 product range which is perfection for combination skin types. One is a “Pore Purifying Cleansing Jelly” which we tested and it felt amazing on the skin, the gel type formula worked perfectly and instantly made my skin feel so fresh. Another product we tested was the “Pore Minimizing Hydra Lotion” Which on top of the “Cleansing Jelly” just made your skin feel so clean, fresh and just amazing. These products are something I will most certainly consider buying. Having oily skin, Claire said that it’s perfect for that kind of skin as it minimises pores. Claire then went onto talking about some of the lipsticks and telling us that Kendal Jenner uses a lot of. Such as the lipstick she wore to the Met Gala which was Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick in Carnal.
After the beauty master-classes, it was time to delve into my favourite part of the day! FASHION. Every hour was a different segment showcasing a specific store. We sat at two. When you sat down at the fashion show, you were presented with a Telford Shopping Tote bag and a red envelope which had a secret number on. At the end of the show, you had to go to the store and check your number against the secret number board. If your number matched then you won a £25 gift voucher for that store. The fashion show focused on the main trends for this season. Stripes, Ruffles, Pink hues, Wide Leg Trousers and Bold Prints. The first being Debenhams, the lovely host (whose name has slipped me) showcased one outfit which was this beautiful Blue jumpsuit. She went on to showcasing how versatile this jumpsuit could be. From dressing it casual for every day and then heading straight into night dressing by adding statement pieces to create a whole new look. I seriously loved when she paired it up with this stunning fringe jacked from Warehouse.
As I work for Marks and Spencers I thought I better had make sure I sit at the fashion show seeing as I picked the items for it. The lovely model was wearing this gorgeous Limited Dress which is just new in! She demonstrated how it could be worn casual everyday with a white little shawl over the top to styling it up as if you were off to the races. Styling it up with the effortlessly gorgeous white M&S collection unstructured blazer and a fascinator to give it that wow factor! Not only was she showcasing this beautiful dress but I picked out some wow pieces that I knew would get people to see M&S in a different light. To showcase some fashion forward pieces such as… The gorgeous Bardot Smock dress and the stunning yellow ruffled sleeve blouse. Even some menswear was thrown into the mix. Showcasing some awesome summer product trying to attract a customer that doesn’t normally think to go M&S for his holiday shopping! As well as the fashion show. In a location just down from where the fashion show was being held was a boutique kind of pop shop which showcased clothes from all around the town centre. Where an expert was on hand to give fashion advice and tips for the perfect out. Again this showcased some of the M&S clothes and a mannequin that I styled myself to try and give a different take on the “normal” ideas of M&S.
I had an amazing day which I really enjoyed. It was lovely to be a part of something that I really enjoy doing and showcasing what the Telford Town Centre has to offer.
This video was not the video I had planned for this day. I planned to do a really creative video but due to not deleting things off of my SD card for my GoPro camera I wasn’t able to film. Why did you film on your phone I hear you ask? Well by midday my phone was on 20% and I really wanted to get some clips of Dua Lipa singing! But none the less I did a little video showcasing my favourite things of the day. I’ve missed a lot out like Ellen’s craving for biscuits halfway through our dancing drunk. But it was an amazing day and I seriously enjoyed myself!
So it’s been a while since I sat down and did a video. I have purchased a few things over the last couples of weeks but like I say in the video I have been trying to save as much as I can.But I’ve also been gaining at the gym so I’ve had to replace the essentials like jeans and t-shirts as everything is really becoming too small now. But here are a few things I’ve purchased and wanted to share with you guys. So run that VT….
This week on Luke’s Look it’s all about the Nautical Vibe. The trend that never goes out of fashion.
There’s nothing that says summer than a good stripe and a sailor feel outfit. The first look perfectly showcases this trend with the Limited tie top £29.50 paired with M&S collection Stripe A-line Skirt £29.50. The flow to the skirt gives the outfit the sense of ease and movement. Giving it the perfect nautical summer feeling. Add a pair of M&S Collection Sandal Heels £35 and an M&S Collection Chunky Necklace £15 and the look is complete.
The second look is a little more casual than the first but it still embodies the Nautical trend. A stripe M&S Collection Top £17.50 to give it the nautical vibe paired with a pair of M&S Collection Wide Leg Trouser £29.50. The wide leg trouser is also a big on trend item at the moment. Finish off the look with a pair of M&S Collection Red Sandal Heel and the look is complete. Eat your heart out Olive Oyl.
With the men, there is no exception why they shouldn’t follow the nautical theme. The stripe is the centre of attention with our first look with the Blue Harbour Red Stripe Shirt £29.50 which takes it away from the traditional blue trend of nautical. Style it with a pair of M&S Collection White Short £25 and some laid back M&S Collection Pumps £29.50 to create a perfect nautical vibe look. The second looks is very traditional for the male styling. A slouchy M&S Stripe T-shirt from £6.50 is the base layer of the look. Style it with a pair of Limited Slim Leg Chino £29.50, a pair of M&S Collection Pumps £25 or Loafers. Then throw over the shoulder an M&S Collection Jumper £15 and tie to finish the look off. Nautical styling comes around year after year and I for one love it!
Many of you may already know that I’m a visual merchandiser for the Marks and Spencers and that you know I run my own fashion blog and YouTube which is something I really enjoy doing as I have a real strong passion for fashion. So because I work with the M&S clothing every day I wanted to do something a little different and try to think of ways that the M&S Customer and colleagues think about putting outfits together. This is where I came up with ‘Luke’s Look’ A weekly style blog and sometimes video, where I combine my love of fashion, photography and trying to inspire people to think differently about fashion. I use my colleague Ellen and sometimes star in it myself. So here is this weeks edition…
This week it was all about focusing on the trends of summer. English Rose – Bright, pretty florals and Urban Idealist – Modern safari looking trend. The first look is all about those statement colours and bold prints which tie in with the English Rose trend. The new Per Una bold print blouse £35 showcases this trend on point. Teaming the blouse up with M&S Collection 7/8 trouser £25, M&S Collection bag £15 and the M&S Collection Sandal £45. This look is bold, colourful and right on trend. The Second look is Urban Idealist which I’ve tried to style the men’s outfit in too. But first the ladies. This trend is all about looking as if you could go on safari. A very trendy safari! With the M&S Collection trousers £27.50 as a base I teamed it up with a plain camisole £5 and M&S collection Linen shirt £27.50. Tying the shirt in a knot at the front gives the outfit a different dimension and creates a laid back approach to the outfit. Adding a big chunky M&S Collection necklace £25 and M&S Collection Sandal £35 to tie the whole look together. The men’s outfit I wanted to take inspiration from the women’s trend of the Urban Idealist. So a khaki on khaki theme. Using the M&S Collection Chino £29.50 as my base layer I then pair it up with a short sleeved M&S Collection shirt £22.50, tucking it in and adding a stone belt adding another dimension to the outfit which also gave me the option to pair my M&S Collection Pumps £29.50 up with the colour of the belt. Ellen and I have also done a video to showcase these looks to show you them in action!
So with just 80 days till Ellen and I are off to Fuerteventura and so the clothes buying frenzy has begun. Walking around the shops this evening after a long day at work I could of easily of purchased at least 20 items there and then. But for me, it’s all about planning outfits before I got than just buying for the sake of buying. I’m going for 7 days and there will be at least 7-14 outfits planned in my head. Day outfits and Evening outfits. The hotel we are going too has a strict dress code that the men also have to wear trousers to dinner. So I have to take this into consideration. Out of dinner, the men can wear whatever they want and that’s what I plan to do. I’ve recently purchased some swimming shorts and a gorgeous two piece outfit from ASOS. Which are going to be two of the many outfits I shall be sporting on my holiday. I have my eyes on so many beautiful pieces from ASOS and surprisingly Primark also! The closer it gets the more excited I’m getting. I need to hit the gym more and make sure I’m holiday ready and not like last time where it was a major rush to try and get a holiday body for my other holiday!
So while scrolling on the endless pages of ASOS, I noticed that on every page there was something from a website named Bershka. I was intrigued and type the name into google which came up with the website. Bershka is a retailer and part of the Spanish Inditex group, which also own the brands such as Zara and Pull&Bear.
Scrolling through the choice of clothes it has some really nice pieces and reasonably priced, on par with H&M. They have basic pieces and some really cool pieces that you could easily see on the likes of ASOS and River Island. Starting prices are anything from £3.99 for two pairs of socks up to £149 for a real leather biker jacket. This is a website for everyone, it has simple pieces which are super easy and on trend at the moment. Here are a few of my favourite pieces, links are below to the products.
So it’s been a while since I did a proper fashion related blog post/ video. With trying to save to move out and saving for my big holiday in July it’s been tough with money. With that and going to the gym and getting all those gains my clothes are slowly dwindling with what fits me. I purchased this Yellow Topman jacket at least 2 years ago in the sale. I never thought it suited me when I had my naturally light hair. Dye my hair dark brown and 2 years later I’ve fallen in love with the jacket. The yellow is such a contrast to anything you wear with it, it’s a vibrant yellow that just makes me so happy when I put it on. Thank god I got a small instead of an X-Small as this jacket would be on the pile of selling too. It’s starting to get a little tight but for the moment I will just wear it all the time. The top underneath is also another top I purchased last year but it being Primark the sizing of it was just too big. Fast forward one year and all those gym gains have started to help. It now nearly fits properly and it doesn’t hang off me like it used to do. The ASOS jean, on the other hand, is coming to it’s final wearing. There’s only so much jumping around a room to try and get these jeans over your bum you can do. They are an amazing Jean and so comfortable to wear. It will look like I shall be scouring ASOS for some more jeans soon. Finally, the Marks and Spencer’s kids trainers that have lasted me oh so well. Spring is such a lovely time to enjoy the countryside and I for one love that I live somewhere I can go explore and lose myself in.
Check out my OOTD video:
As most people know I’m a visual merchandiser for Marks and Spencer’s. While I’m there I also do a fashion piece every week saying what the trends are and hot items to have. This week on Luke’s Look it’s all about those statement pieces to wow. Whether it’s a formal gathering or it’s you’re just having a casual outing. First for the ladies, following on from my other blog posts with bold colours. This time around we’ve gone even bolder. Keeping the theme with the fluted bell sleeve this M&S Collection Pink Dress with tie back £45 is the perfect statement to stand out at any occasion. The plunge back and tie back is a lovely additional detail to this dress. Pair this dress with the embroidered platform heels £35 to give the dress a helping hand with print. Summer is all about bold bright colours. What better way to show this with the M&S Collection Midi dress in bright yellow. While it’s not for some this yellow dress will most certainly turn heads. With it’s tiered fit and tied tassels on the sleeve and neckline it’s the perfect dress to welcome the summer in. Pair it up with the M&S Collection coin detailed sandal and it adds the free spirit vibe to the dress.
There’s nothing like a guy who turns up somewhere who is looking sharp for the party. So why not wow them with this M&S collection Slim Fit Suit £149 Jacket £85 Trousers £64. Step away from the black and do the route of Navy and teaming it up with an M&S Collection Tan Oxford Brogue £59 to trend it up. Like the women, the colour yellow is very big this season. If you’re not too keen on the idea of incorporating yellow into your wardrobe here’s how to subtle add the colour. Use it as a base colour to work your outfit around using this M&S Collection
Crew Neck T-shirt £6.00. Add a summery print Limited shirt £25 on top and team the whole look with the elasticated M&S Collection Short £15 and M&S Collection Stone Pump £29.50 to give a summery finish to the look. Summer is just around the corner so stand out and be bold!
